Sailing In This Season of Covid

Despite the restrictions and socially distancing, members have been informally getting together on the water over this most extraordinary summer.

Although quite a few members report not launching their boats this year, or for those with yachts based abroad, unable to get to their boats at all, a number have been able to get out on the water between named Atlantic storms to enjoy some fine sailing and informal get togethers with other HRs.

Some have enjoyed raft ups and chatting from the cockpit, or simply waving hello passing on passage as the Association has had to cancel the three main organised rallies of the year 2020, including the popular Commodore's Rally usually staged at Lymington mid September.

It has been a most difficult time, though probably the very safest you can be from the ravages of this pandemic is out on the water on your yacht, the year started slowly, with restrictions on overnight stays only released well into Summer.

The Association will be announcing plans for some online events, and will be keeping in touch as usual through our email, website, and social media platforms.

Here's to 2021, and hoping that all our members ashore or afloat, have stayed, and will remain, safe and well.
