I have recently purchased a HR29 and would like to fit a manual anchor windlass. I am considering a Simpson and Lawrence Anchorman and would be pleased to hear from anyone who has fitted a manual windlass to a HR29.

I fitted exactly that to my HR29 three years ago and consider it one of the best things I have ever done. Installation was simple apart from my need to convert the "cotton reel" Scandinavian bow roller to a substantial tipping roller to cradle the Bruce anchor. The gearing on the Anchorman is perfect, I reckon about ten rotations pulls up 1 mtr of chain. - No more strained backs, go for it.
