I am from the Houston/Galveston area in Texas, and am considering the purchase of a 1975 HR 35 Rasmus. Since this would be my first boat, any advice about it would be greatly appreciated. I plan to live aboard and cruise.

Sincerely,

James Self

Hi James, I have owned and sailed a Rasmus for ten years and have just sold her. I was very happy with her and always felt safe.

Some points when looking at a purchase: the fuel tank is under the engine and because of the design all water from the stern seala (prop and rudder) flows over the tank so any leakage may cause water in the fuel problems, (be careful of fuel level sensor); most of the boats are old enough to require careful hull examination before purchase.

Hope you find a good one.

Martin Stokes

(I have bought a newish (2000) HR 42 so I am sold on the HR breed)

Looking for someone with an HR 35 that has a hard top dodger. Since the factory has long since destroyed the mold for the hard top dodger I'm trying to find an existing boat that I can use as a model so one can be built for me. If you have such a boat I would be interested in hearing from you and eventually receiving photos of what the dodger actually looks like and how it connects to the windshield. Thanks much.
