Gori Propeller

We have just started sailing with our new HR43 and I find that the operation of the Gori propeller is quite mysterious. We never know if we are in 'overdrive' or not (other than by seeing what the max revs are, which is not always convenient), and if we have not yet discovered how to change from 'overdrive' to normal (despite following the instructions).

Could anyone who happily uses a Gori propeller share their experience here so we can move up the learning curve a little? I am sure it will be wonderful in due course...

When you reverse out of your berth, your Gori prop is automatically in 'overdrive' position. On my 37, the easiest way to tell is to see what speed I am doing at approx. 1700 revs; if speed is about 6.5kts, I'm in overdrive - if 5.5kts, I'm in the 'normal' position. When (motor)sailing in normal position and you want to go to the overdrive position, the trick is to get the boat to really go backwards.
All-in-all, the relatively powerful engine plus Gori prop on the HR37 make for a very quiet and wonderful motorsailing combination!
